Pushing the Limits [Katie McGarry]

Pushing the Limits - Katie McGarry

While this book is a romance novel, it's not just about Echo and Noah figuring out their relationship. It takes them a while to get together and even longer to stay together. I'm not going to get into the cliche of the bad boy and the good girl. If it hadn't been for the mystery surrounding Echo's scars, it's very unlikely I would have read this book. The mystery behind her scars was something I just couldn't pass up.

This book has two POVs: Echo's and Noah. There are points when I found that really helpful (knowing what both of them were thinking was often helpful) and others when I found it annoying (like a cliffhanger in Echo's chapter and having to be patient enough to read Noah's chapter to find out what happened with Echo).

I'm not really sure I can consider this as a true YA book. Yeah, they are teenagers but they are very mature teenagers (seniors, so 17-18 years old). Aside from them having to go to school, it was hard to remember that they were just teens. They've both had to deal with things that made them grow up faster than most of their peers. Maybe that's just me.

The story behind Echo's scars is one I was expecting after a point. It wasn't the exact story I'd expected, but it was then basic idea. I both love and hate when that happens!

Beth gets her own book next year, Dare You To, which I might read. I disliked her at first but she did grow on me. It's odd that it's not her with Isaiah. I don't think I'd bother at all if it was her and Isaiah, since they've kind of gotten it figured out in this book, even if we never see it.
