I was expecting this book to be a lot darker than it was. Not saying it was all light and fluffy, but with a summary starting with "Have you ever wondered what life would be like without you?" I was expecting a lot of angst. So glad that wasn't the case with this book. I'm not good with angst in books, some is okay but I tend to not read books with a lot of angst in them.
I was a little worried that I'd be a little lost with this book, since I read the others in this series back in 2011. I wasn't lost even with the time gap. I hadn't even realized this series was still being written, since the four books before it seemed complete to me.
I expected this book to have a more medical focus, given Sonny's surgery. The medical part of the book was a minor part overall, important of course, but I think the real focus of the book was Sonny's family giving him something to live for.
