The Fruit Hunters: A Story of Nature, Adventure, Commerce and Obsession [Adam Leith Gollner]
I expected this book to be more about fruit in history, but a lot of it is modern fruit - love of fruit, kinds of fruit, fruit bought in stores. Some of this book freaked me out - what stores do to fruit so people will buy it (picked long before it was ripe, adding color so people will see the color they expect an orange to be etc). I'm leery of buying store fruit now, which is about the only way I can get any fruit at this point. We have farmer stalls here during the summer, but I think they are out of fruit and veggies at this point.
