I came really close to giving this book a 5 star review, but some parts of it bored me so I didn't give it a 5 star review.
I think everyone should read this book. It's given me a different way to look at religion - a way that is very different from the way we view religion now. This book is part history, part science and all about religion and what shapes our religious views. This book hasn't made me religious, but it explains that the way we view religion now is a very new idea. The bible was never meant to be taken literally as we read it today, but as stories that teach us something about the world, our morals and how we should live our lives.
I prefer the idea of religion shown in this book much better than the type of religion practiced today. The author isn't trying to get the reader to believe in God, but to make their own choices. There was a time when religion was discovered for yourself instead of read in a book and taken on faith.
