I really hate plots that use people as pawns! That being said, I really liked this book in spite of the whole 'let's use Henry's bastard daughter as a pawn thing'. I really wasn't sure about the whole protector thing, since I was afraid that Richmond was going to be a father figure to Arissa and I'd have issues with them together if that was the case! That wasn't an issue, since he wasn't like her father, just someone who looked after her. I really loved Riss and Richmond together, even if their love was real before the book started.
